For others, it means plopping down in a beach chair with an ice cold brew. Members of the latter group will have a blast visiting the breweries on Maui, where thirst-quenching beverages provide a taste of the islands. Here are a few of our favorites. Why You’ll Love the Breweries on MauiKohola BreweryKohola Brewery is a craft brewery located in the heart of Lahaina. Here you’ll find a wide range of brews made with some of the highest-quality hops and grains available. Year-round favorites include the Lokahi pilsner, Red Sand ale, and the Talk Story American pale ale. If you’re interested in learning more about the brewing process, Kohola Brewery offers public tours Wednesday through Friday at 2, 3, and 4 p.m. Each 30-minute experience teaches guests about beer, grains, hops, and more. It also includes a stroll through the brewhouse and cellar room. The tour ends with a 4oz sampling of beers and a souvenir taster glass to bring home with you. Cheers! Did you know? Koholā means humpback whale in Hawaiian. The brewery was named after the thousands of whales that visit Maui waters every year and works with local organizations to improve whale awareness. Maui Brewing Co.Another great place to visit is Maui Brewing Co. This facility produces some of the most popular beers in Hawaii, and they even come in eco-friendly cans! Choose from a number of limited-release beers like the Blood Orange Lorenzini double IPA, or opt for a flagship brew like the Bikini Blonde lager, Big Swell IPA, Pineapple Mana wheat beer, or the Coconut Hiwa porter. Maui Brewing Co. has two locations on the island of Maui. We recommend visiting the brewery in Kihei for a guided 45-minute tour of the brewhouse, cellar, and packaging line. Then, stop by the brewery’s tasting room for a cold beer and stunning views of Haleakala and Molokini. When your stomach starts to rumble, head to the brewpub in Lahaina where beer-centric bites line the menu. It’s open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. with happy hour starting at 3:30 p.m. Book Your Stay at The Historic Wailuku InnAfter visiting the best breweries on Maui, take an easy drive back to our bed and breakfast and unwind.
