Maui Tropical Plantation Is One of the Most Beautiful Sights on the Island

Maui Tropical Plantation

Maui, Hawaii, is a kingdom of diversified agriculture that supports the island’s economy, environment, and way of life. Preserving this lush landscape is very important to locals, and Maui Tropical Plantation is a perfect example of that! This working farm produces more than 40 crops and hundreds of native plants. It even offers concerts, events, and tours. Just a 5-minute drive from our inn, the plantation gives visitors an in-depth look at Hawaii’s natural beauty. Here are some of our favorite things to do there.

Spend a Day at Maui Tropical Plantation

Tour the Plantation Grounds

Nestled between the majestic West Maui Mountains, Maui Tropical Plantation offers breathtaking views of Waikapu Valley. Then, experience the plantation from above on Maui Zip Lines, a tower-to-tower family adventure that soars above the grounds. Or, traverse the beautiful gardens, rivers, and valleys on foot. You’ll experience various sounds of birds chirping and sweet smells of blooming flowers. Be sure to say hello to “Old Vancouver,” Hawaii’s beloved cattle!

If you prefer a guided tour, take a ride on the Maui Tropical Plantation Express. This narrated excursion provides an up-close look at the land. You’ll discover lovely Hawaiian plants, tropical fruits, and fields of row crops. A live coconut husking demonstration is also included. The tram tour heads out every hour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Eat Like a Local

When your stomach starts to rumble, head to one of the restaurants scattered around the plantation. You can grab a cup of freshly roasted coffee from Mill House Roasting Company, or enjoy an unforgettable meal at The Mill House. This popular farm-to-table eatery utilizes ingredients right from the plantation, such as organic produce, fruit, plants, and proteins. It’s always busy, so be sure to make a reservation!

For a one-of-a-kind dining experience, we recommend the Maui Chef’s Table. A seven-course dinner is available on select nights at The Mill House Restaurant and features some of the island’s best chefs. You can even watch as each course is created in the open-air kitchen.

Go Shopping

No trip to the plantation is complete without a souvenir! From Christmas ornaments and home goods to apparel and art, Maui Tropical Plantation has something for everyone. Spend some time browsing one of these fine boutiques and pick up a few gifts for your family and friends.
