Your Guide to the Top Food Trucks on Maui

1. HI Thai Food Truck

First up on our list is HI Thai. This truck parks on North Market Street in Wailuku, just half a mile from our inn. Enjoy the flavors of authentic Thai street food with fresh vegetables, herbs, seasonings, and a touch of island-style flair. Menu favorites include the pad Thai shrimp ($12) and fried rice with chicken, vegetables, pork, or beef ($10).

2. Like Poke?

Ahi poke is a staple of the Hawaiian Islands. The famous dish combines cubed fish, green onions, soy sauce, and other tasty ingredients for a healthy, delicious meal. Try it for yourself at Like Poke, right across the street from Costco in Kahului. This truck boasts some of the freshest poke bowls on Maui, and they’re all mixed to order. We recommend stopping by for lunch or an afternoon snack. But, be warned — they tend to sell out early!

3. Geste Shrimp Truck

If you’re heading to Kahului Beach, pull over at Geste Shrimp on Kahului Beach Drive. Geste was named “Best Food Truck on Maui” two years in a row, and for good reason! Their signature shrimp plate ($15) comes with 12 pieces of shrimp, two scoops of rice, and a scoop of crab macaroni salad. You can even choose your shrimp flavor: Hawaiian scampi, hot & spicy, pineapple, and lemon pepper are all terrific options.

4. Braddah Hutts BBQ Grill

Driving Maui’s famous Road to Hana is a must during your visit. And, when you finally get to Hana Town, Braddah Hutts BBQ Grill should be your first stop! Look for the sign that says “Last Food Stop”, and you’ll know you’re in the right place.

This roadside stand offers delicious, island-style cuisine in the form of plate lunches. Choose between giant servings of chicken, ribs, or fish. Then, enjoy your meal at a picnic table and get to know the other diners.

5. Huli Huli Chicken

Okay, fine — this isn’t technically a food truck. However, you must try the Huli Huli Chicken in Hana, one mile from Braddah Hutts. Here, you can indulge in tender, juicy BBQ chicken with a beautiful view of Koki Beach. You won’t leave hungry, either. Each plate comes with half a chicken, fresh salad, and rice for just $12. Beer and canned beverages are also available for purchase.

Did you know? Huli means to rotate or flip over. So, it makes sense that this dish is prepared by flipping the chicken over an open flame!
