You look out over the indigo water splashing on the shore to see the West Maui Mountains rising out of the ocean. Now, glance behind you. The massive Haleakala Volcano looms in the distance. This is paradise. This is Wailea Beach. Aside from being one of the most picturesque and beautiful beaches in Hawaii, it holds many fun activities and adventures for all guests. Access our free Travel Guide to discover your Maui paradise filled with fun, relaxation, and breathtaking nature.

The Perfect Day at Wailea Beach

Swim

Swimming is a simple, yet fun way to enjoy the sun and sand! The ocean here is typically very calm with the occasional swell of small waves. This makes it a great location to wade out into the water and relax. Wailea Beach is also safe and kid-friendly. Get out there and enjoy that beautiful Maui water!

Snorkel

Rent a snorkel from one of the resorts lining the beach and head out into the water to explore the vibrant, colorful communities of fish and coral that await you. The snorkeling off of the left side of the beach is good, but if you want to see more fish and live reefs, swim to the right side of the beach. This is a great spot for beginners as it does not get deeper than 25 feet along the shoreline. If it’s a nice day out, you are almost guaranteed to see a vast variety of tropical fish. You might even spot some sea turtles!

Paddleboard

The calm waters of Wailea Beach make this stretch of sand the perfect place to paddleboard, especially for beginners. Check out the Aqualani Beach Club for hourly or daily rentals. Once you are out on the water, enjoy 360-degree views of one of the most beautiful spots on Maui.

Shop

Had enough of the sun for one day? Walk through The Shops at Wailea to find excellent, high-end stores like Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Tommy Bahama. You’ll also find plenty of surf shops, like Billabong and Quicksilver, in addition to delicious dining options like The Cheeseburger Grille & Tap Room and Longhi’s. Finish up your fun-filled day with some homemade ice cream from Lappert’s.

Take in the Views

While there are many things to keep you busy at Wailea Beach, one of the best things to do is kick back, relax, and enjoy the views. Grab a cocktail from the Four Seasons Maui lounge and watch one of the most amazing sunsets you will ever set your eyes on. You may even spot a celebrity! Walk along the Wailea Oceanfront Boardwalk Trail and soak up the natural beauty. You will rarely see a picture this perfect.

Tip: Wailea Beach public parking is available between the Four Seasons and Grand Wailea. Showers and restrooms are available here as well.
