Cliff Diving & Torch Lighting Ceremony

Each evening at sunset, the Ka’anapali Beach cliff diving ceremony takes place on the cliffs of Puu Kekaa, or Black Rock. You can watch as the diver sets the cliff torches ablaze. Then, to complete the ceremony, the diver releases a lei into the ocean below as an offering to the ancient Hawaiian gods. This is a great way to experience the culture of the island and try something different when visiting Ka’anapali Beach.

Shopping

Explore the world-class shopping center at Whalers Village, located near the middle of the Ka’anapali Beachwalk. Along with high-class stores like Louis Vuitton and Lily Pulitzer, you’ll also find laidback brands like Lululemon and Billabong. During your day of shopping, you can stop at one of the many restaurants or entertainment facilities in the shopping center or spend time exploring the renowned whaling museum. Relax on the beach in the morning, then head to the open-air mall in the afternoon for a little retail therapy.

Whale Watching

Of course, lounging on the shores of Ka’anapali is a great way to spend the day. But, if you’re visiting between late November and early April, you may have the unique chance to spot a whale. During these months, 12,000 humpback whales migrate to Maui for the breeding season. You can sometimes catch a glimpse of these beautiful marine mammals from the shore.
