Lavender is the queen of herbs. This pretty purple plant can relieve pain and tension, enhance blood circulation, and even treat respiratory problems. Plus, its sweet, soothing smell eases both body and mind. The Ali’i Kula Lavender Farm on Maui is a great place to learn more about lavender. With 13.5 acres of plants in 45 varieties, this Hawaiian treasure rivals the French countryside! Here are some of our favorite things to do there.

How to Experience the Maui Lavender Farm

Learn the History

Nestled on the slopes of Haleakala National Park, the Kula Lavender Farm is a fragrant purple paradise, unlike anything you’ve seen before. Here, visitors can admire over 55,000 lavender plants, olive trees, hydrangea flowers, and succulents. Though lavender is not native to Maui, the plant thrives in our area’s cool, dry climate and blooms year-round. Agricultural artist Ali’i Chang was given lavender in 2001 by a dear friend and used it to create a spectacular botanical garden. Today, the Maui Lavender Farm is a testament to Ali’i’s love for the land.

Take a Tour

With panoramic views and peaceful walking paths, the Ali’i Kula Lavender Farm is an excellent place to wander. Guided walking tours are available daily from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and cover the farm’s history, inspiration, and plans for the future. Tours typically last 30 to 40 minutes and are $12 per person with advanced reservations.

Guests can also take an extended tour of the farm from the seat of a comfortable, five-person golf cart. Guided cart tours are offered twice daily at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. To make your experience even more memorable, the farm provides gourmet picnic baskets with options like wraps, sandwiches, salads, and lavender-infused desserts. Yum!

Visit the Gift Shop

Don’t forget to stop by the farm’s gift shop! Feel free to browse a wide variety of souvenirs and treasures that will help you remember your visit forever. Peruse the extensive collection of soaps, lotions, aromatherapy products, and apparel, or purchase culinary items like teas and jams. It’s all made using the farm’s lavender!
