Maui is famous for growing some of the most delicious organic produce in Hawaii. Over 13 varieties of avocado can be found here, and a myriad of fruits and vegetables are cultivated from the island’s rich soil. With an overflowing community of Maui farmer’s markets, locals and visitors have the ability to eat healthy, locally-grown food throughout the year. Here are some of the best markets in the area.

Our Favorite Maui Farmer’s Markets

1. Upcountry Farmer’s Market

Voted “Best of Maui” in 2015 and 2016, the Upcountry Farmer’s Market in Makawao is a must-see. It’s the oldest living farmer’s market on Maui and has been operating at various Upcountry locations for over 40 years. You’ll find mounds of organic produce as well as nuts, fresh-caught fish, coffee, and prepared foods. They even have tropical flowers, plants, and trees. The market is open on Saturdays from 7 to 11 a.m. and is a great place to stock up on goodies for the week.

2. Maui Nui Farmer’s Market

Maui Nui in Kula is a 40-acre farm located on the slopes of Mt. Haleakala. Guests are invited to visit the Maui Nui Farmer’s Market every Thursday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Offerings include lettuce and greens, vegetables and fruit, fresh flowers, and much more. As an added bonus, the farm has “Family Days” on the first weekend of each month. Visitors can enjoy live music, take a free farm tour, and check out local goods. Bring your own bag for a 10% discount!

3. Hana Fresh Farm Stand

f you’re planning a Road to Hana adventure, be sure to stop by the Hana Fresh Farm Stand. Located in front of the Hana Medical Center, this market offers a myriad of organic produce, rare herbs, fresh smoothies and juices, and a breakfast and lunch menu. Relax and enjoy your meal in the shady picnic area or take it with you to your own special spot. The farm stand is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

4. Napili Farmer’s Market

This West Maui market highlights local, non-GMO produce and offers an array of pastries, jewelry, bread, sunscreen, and more. There’s even live Hawaiian music from George Kahumoku! The Napili Farmer’s Market is held on Wednesday and Saturday from 8 a.m to noon at Honoapiilani Highway and Napilihau Street.

5. Lipoa Street Farmer’s Market

The Lipoa Street Farmer’s Market is a small, intimate market in Kihei, Maui. Here, guests may peruse a variety of unique items like beets, carrots, dragonfruit, breadfruit, and fresh Wailea eggs. You’ll find locally-grown foods from all corners of the island! The market is open on Saturdays from 8:30 to 11 a.m.
